Topic: DMD0191 Setup Offline PLC |
|
The Setup Offline PLC utility is used to change the target Do-more CPU for the current offline Do-more Designer project.
STOP! The process of selecting a new Target CPU cannot be automatically reversed, so before performing this operation make sure to have a recent backup copy of the project in case the need to revert to the previous CPU target arises. Use File-> Save As to create a second copy of the current project and open that copy to work with.
Do-more Designer automatically generates backup copies of the currently open project at defined intervals. The programmer can also manually generate backup copies at desired intervals. Any of these backup copies can be used to roll back to a previous version if the need arises.
Do-more Hardware
Class specifies the hardware platform of the CPU and Type
specifies which of the Do-more CPUs built on the specified platform
will be the target device for the new project, Select the appropriate CPU
part number.
Click the OK button to change the CPU type in the project, or the Cancel button to exit and NOT change the CPU type in the project. |

At this point Do-more Designer will work through the System Configuration of the currently open project and present a list of Major and Minor issues that will have to be manually addressed if the CPU type is changed.
In the example below a DM-SIM project is being changed to target an H2-DM1 CPU. Notice that the underlying I/O system is changing from DM-SIM (with fixed I/O) to an H2-DM1/E system with some mix of I/O Modules. The on-board resources the CPU itself are also changing; from a CPU with on-board Ethernet to a DM1 (CPU without on-board Ethernet). Changes of this magnitude will greatly affect the System Configuration of the project which will in turn generate disconnected Module Configurations and/or Unassigned Nicknames for programming elements and Devices that were removed because the target CPU does not have those same resources. The Unassigned Nicknames must be resolved or removed from the project before it can be downloaded to a Do-more CPU.
Issues will be tagged as Major if they involve a system resource that has been removed AND that resource is being used in the project. Issues will be tagged as Minor if they involve a system resource that has been removed but that resource is not currently being used in the project.
Click YES - Please continue to commit the changes to the project.
Click NO - Please cancel and return to close the dialog and leave the CPU setting for the project unchanged.
